Heat Seeding

Automatically generate heats and assign lanes using seed times. Requires Director.

How It Works

When you have athletes entered into an event with seed times, RaceTimerPro can automatically distribute them across heats and assign lanes based on industry-standard seeding algorithms.

Seed Orders

OrderDescription
Slowest to FastestStandard track & field order. Slowest athletes in early heats, fastest in the final heat. This is the default for most competitions.
Fastest to SlowestFastest athletes run first. Used in some invitational formats.
RandomAthletes are randomly distributed across heats. Useful for fun runs or when seed times aren't available.

Heat Generation

To generate heats:

  1. Navigate to the event's entry list
  2. Ensure athletes have seed times entered
  3. Tap Generate Heats
  4. Select the seeding order and number of lanes/positions per heat
  5. Review the generated heats before confirming

Lane Assignment

Within each heat, athletes are assigned to lanes based on seed time. In track events, faster seeds typically get preferred middle lanes. You can manually adjust lane assignments after generation if needed.

Scratch Management

Athletes can be scratched from events. Scratched entries are removed from heat assignments and the remaining athletes are redistributed as needed.
