Timer Basics

The core stopwatch with millisecond precision that powers everything in RaceTimerPro.

Starting and Stopping

The timer is front and center on the main screen, displayed over your live camera feed. Use the large start/stop button to control it:

Tip: The timer uses a high-precision DispatchSourceTimer running on a dedicated thread, so it stays accurate even when the camera is recording or the UI is busy.

Timer Display Options

Customize how the timer appears on your camera feed in Settings:

SettingOptions
Timer SizeSmall, Medium, Large
Timer PositionTop Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right
Show DateToggle date/time display on the overlay

The timer overlay appears on both photos and video recordings, so what you see on screen is what gets captured.

Race Name Overlay

With Pro or higher, you can add a race name that appears on the overlay. Tap the race name area above the timer to edit it. The name shows on photos and video recordings.

Pausing and Resuming

If you stop the timer mid-race, RaceTimerPro saves your race state. You can resume timing from where you left off without losing accumulated time or lap data.
