Multi-Device Sync

Synchronize timing across multiple devices over local Wi-Fi. Requires Director.

Host and Guest Roles

Multi-device sync uses a host/guest model:

Host — The primary device that controls the timer. Start, stop, reset, and lap commands originate here.
Guest — Secondary devices that receive timer commands and stay in sync. Guests can be positioned at different locations (e.g., different points along a course).

What Syncs

Data	Description
Timer commands	Start, stop, reset, and lap are synchronized across all devices
Timer state	Current time is kept in sync with latency measurement
Media	Photos and videos can be transferred between devices with metadata
Camera controls	Host can adjust guest camera settings (resolution, fps, zoom)

Setting Up

On the host device, go to Quick Tools and tap the multi-device sync icon
Select Host role
On guest devices, open the same view and select Guest
Devices discover each other automatically over local Wi-Fi using Bonjour
Accept the connection on the host

Tip: All devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network. The sync uses Multipeer Connectivity which works over both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but Wi-Fi provides better range and reliability for media transfer.

Latency

RaceTimerPro measures network latency between devices using a ping/pong system. This ensures timer synchronization accounts for network delay, keeping all devices within milliseconds of each other.
