Environmental Data

Overlay weather, altitude, and location data on your recordings. Requires Director.

Available Data

RaceTimerPro can display the following environmental conditions on the video overlay:

Temperature	WeatherKit	Current temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius
Humidity	WeatherKit	Relative humidity percentage
Wind Speed	WeatherKit	Current wind speed and direction
Weather Condition	WeatherKit	Clear, cloudy, rain, etc.
Altitude	Barometer	Elevation from the device barometric altimeter
Barometric Pressure	Barometer	Atmospheric pressure reading
GPS Coordinates	Location Services	Latitude and longitude of the race venue

Why It Matters

Environmental conditions directly impact race performance. Documenting conditions helps with:

• Performance context — Understand why times were faster or slower than expected
• Record validation — Wind readings are required for official sprint records
• Historical comparison — Compare performances under similar conditions across seasons
• Safety documentation — Record heat index and conditions for athlete safety records

Configuration

Toggle individual data points on or off in Settings. You can choose which environmental data appears on the overlay — show everything for complete documentation or just temperature and wind for a cleaner look.

Permissions Required

• Location Services — For GPS coordinates and to fetch local weather
• Motion & Fitness — For barometric altitude readings

Weather data is fetched via Apple WeatherKit and cached for 10 minutes to minimize battery impact.
